To start off my 2017 Row by Row shop hopping, I visited three shops in Sarasota, Florida. Here’s what I found:
Stop #1: Cotton Patch Quilt Shop. This quilt shop not only has this adorable Row but owner Laura has set up a ‘photo op’ area. As you can see by the picture above, Basset hounds are all the rage in this shop – 4 to be exact! The Row features the four Basset hounds on the go and while in the shop, they visit with you and try their best to take your attention away from all the beautiful fabrics. Cotton Patch is participating in Row by Row Junior and, of course, it features dogs. The ‘photo op’ area will be just one more thing children will enjoy when they pick up their Row by Row Junior pattern. Thank you, Laura, for taking time out of your day to show me around. As always, I can’t leave a shop without buying something so I picked up some cute pink and white striped fabric which I’ll use to make a pair of boxer shorts for my daughter. click here
Stop #2: A Quilter’s Stash. The Row in this shop features Volkswagon bugs which are so retro and so ‘in’ right now. The ‘bugs’ are on the go, moving at 25 mph, and heading for a beach house located on Sarasota Bay (their destination is just a guess). Every kit you purchase has the shop name and Sarasota, Florida written on the road so you’ll always know where you were when you make this Row. The shop had some very nice wooden buttons and I couldn’t resist getting two while I was there.
Stop #3: Alma Sue’s Quilt Shop. This shop’s Row represents and is entitled Regatta at City Island, Sarasota. It was designed by John Sims and students at Ringling School of Art. In addition to the design, the colors were also chosen by the designers. While at Alma Sue’s, I spotted two license plates. The picture shows some very clever sayings and I couldn’t resist sharing them. While in this shop, I found the cutest fabric that I’ll use to make an apron. click here
Yes, three shops and over a hundred dollars later. But what’s new, huh? I was ‘On The Go’ and enjoyed every minute of it.
